Feeling the love... for Tears

Sorry, its been a while again...

My excuse? F*cking chores. Seriously, not imposed by anyone but myself and it always seems there's something left to do. Argh.

Anyway, so, what's happened since last time...

Oh yes, Tutus and Tiaras! (Picture included). It was freezing in my little joggers, boa and stifling hot under that mask. No, I did not get the outfit wrong, I couldn't find a tutu to fit the morning of the fun run / walk, so I improvised. Don't you think its kickass? hahahahaha - my favourite pastime, making an ass of myself for laughs (well, I have a few others, but... wait, maybe I'll make a list later :))

So, as I was freezing my toit, sexy ass off, I decided to run from the start with my favourite Monster, but I think I jogged for less that 10 minutes. There I was, thinking, you know, I have been training with a personal trainer for three months, I'm definitely fitter than I once was, and then the body gave me a wake up call: "Bitch, we're still recovering from flu, sit yo' ass down before you kill us both!"

I proceeded to walk and wait for the Young One to catch up to me. From that point, it was a competition between me, the Young One, Anti-B and his Foxy Lady to see who stops jogging first. The mask was trez annoying, but part of the outfit. I turned my ankle twice because I couldn't see my feet - lol.

Reaching the "establishments" part of the run (read Beach Boulevard bars) it became tougher. With the hooting and comments coming from said "establishments" you did NOT want to stop running. At this stage, we had also received our very appreciated Standard Bank water bottles. Running past a biker bar (I forget the name), we actually sped up, but Anti-B's Foxy Lady decided to take it slower from there, to which I urged her to "Keep running, they go for the weakest member of the pack". Laughing, she picked up the pace once more.

The Young One kept complaining that she couldn't go as slow as I was, I told her its cause her legs are longer and she needs to shorten her stride. This bantering went on for a while, amidst the huffing and puffing (from my side, mostly).
I eventually finished 2nd woman, 4th all-round, but the depressing part is, the members who decided to walk the distance took only 15 minutes longer than I did to finish the race. Its so very wrong.

Our finish line was the extremely cool Banned Rock Lounge on Marine Circle, and at which, at 16:00 on a Saturday afternoon, I was nodding my head to some heady and heavy music - extremely cool. Unfortunately I missed the burlesque dance, as the Not-So-Ex and I were hosting a braai for some of the runners and the chick from the coolest flatmates ever, Anti-B, the Not-So-Ex and I had decided to play a game of magic.

The Not-So-Ex had just put the meat on the fire when it started drizzling - first time we braaied under an umbrella. I played one game, think I had two beers and then, literally, couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. I'm not sure exactly how early I was in bed, but yeah, Rockstar, in my case, is a mindset only. :)

Aging rockstar

So, I was "katjie van die baan" last weekend, come Tuesday, the flu had me flat on my back. It is now Friday and I'm only just surfacing. Not fun at all.

Friday night started raucously, as per usual. I invited Monster and The Young One over for dinner (I don't know, somehow I really enjoy cooking for friends, but not so much just for me and the Not-so-Ex?), which was a lovely Caribbean fish curry - awesomeness. Tequila Tart joined us as well, as well as Long Lost Friend and brother. Savannahs, Amstels, Windhoeks and MUCH RED WINE was partaken in before waltzing off to Mercury. To be seduced by the vocals of Michelle Breeze - amazingness.

Truth be told, many of the songs flowed into one another for me (not knowing them that well) but I had goosebumps none the less, and stood fascinated, watching the stage for their entire spellbinding performance.

Afterwards, there was much fun to be had at the bar with friends - Jagermeister won again. Finally, I bummed a lift with two of Tequila Tart's friends, as everyone else was obviously going to party much later than I intended to, seeing as I needed my beauty sleep for the next night's show.

Woke up with an almightly head ache which was SO NOT justified by the amount of alcohol I had consumed the night before - I didn't drink as much as I had mixed my alcohol: Big mistake.

The not-so-ex and I then traipsed down to Villa Taverna for breakfast and the Stormers / Crusaders game, then returned home so I could, for one last time, practice all my toons. By then, the four Panados had started doing what they were paid to do.

Monster and The Young One fetched me at 16:00 and soundcheck was complete at 9:15 (when the doors had already opened to the venue). Monster, TDB, me and another League of Doom member wizzed off to the Monster's house to get ready - read change wardrobe and add make up.

By this time, my heart rate was doing around 160 km/h as I was about to perform on a stage for the first time in over a decade. I couldn't remember the notes I had to play on my first song (which also happened to be the first song of the set).

Anyway, we returned to the venue, got on stage and waited for the curtain to be lifted. Heartrate accelarated to 200 km/h.

Two minutes into the song, I tried my notes, the 1st ones were wrong, but still harmonised, and by the second time around - I had them. This did not decelerate the heart rate, however, all it accomplished was to make me start grooooooooooving behind that keyboard. And then I started to enjoy it.

At the end of every gig I've ever played, though, its hard to remember what happened in each song, but this time round, I do. Including the comments shouted from the audience by the female member of the coolest-flatmates-ever.

Sunday I invited the Monster and The Young One around for dinner once more - the Not-So-Ex was off to watch soccer and I did not feel like eating dinner by myself. Drank 3 glasses of wine and went to bed pissed.

By Monday afternoon, I had no voice, was coughing and had a fever.

Tuesday saw me in bed until yesterday.

Tequila Tart is doubting that I'm a rockstar.

I have to agree... :)

Hello again!

I'm not even going to apologise.

I have a life - a very, very busy life, deal with it :)

Recent happenings:

Received a competent vote for stupid f*ck w*nk - but more on that later: grrrrrrr!!!
Moved back in with the not-so-ex.
Have a personal trainer.
Three times a week running (well, jogging and walking) on Devil's Peak.
Reading A Song of Ice and Fire.
Went to Ramfest!!!
Band practice (and NOT so much dinner club) twice a week for 3 weeks.
Too much food and chocolates at Easter
After hour appointments (although not so much recently).

You get the picture.

Why am I here again?

Oh, stupid f*ck w*nk. After slogging away and sacrificing three months of my life and paying the equivalent of a bad month's salary, it is NOT YET DONE!!! NO! The wonderful folks over at the Estate Agency Affairs Board, expect me to write the exam, which I wrote in 2007, again. Why, you ask? Because I did not write it in 2003. Really?!!! And, the best part is, I get to PAY for the privilege!!! Argh!

Anyway, that's in June, and no use bitching about, but F*CK I'm pissed off about it.

In happier news: the not-so-ex, being the awesome boyfriend that he is, purchased a Ramfest ticket for moi! (Couldn't afford it) and oh, Gods, it was fun. Didn't see so many bands as I just had a kickass time with the coolest flatmates ever! And it took me three days to recover, regardless of the fact I didn't even drink that much - the body, it is definitely aging now :( But still had so much fun!

About a month ago I was invited to partake in an ensemble gig - with fellow doom appreciators and musicians. It took me three weeks to be able to play one of the songs - am quite proud of that feat, I have to say. The three other songs also kicked my ass for a while, but I prevailed! This weekend I will be on stage for the first time in approximately 11 years!!! Hectic.

Also this weekend, I will be going to watch Fetish, whom I confess not to know well AT ALL! But so excited. Plus, the Monster, being the wonderful friend that he is, bought me a CD of theirs to familiarise myself with before tonight. Its amazing! And the funny thing is, I don't recall ever watching them live, but the songs are all familiar already?! 'Tis a mystery. Then again, I have about nine years swallowed in a haze of drunkenness whilst being the keyboard playing in a Cape Town Doom Band :)

Sunday, though... Sunday I will be spending on the couch. Under a blankie, with loads and loads of movies! Can't wait. I don't remember the last time I spent a day doing nothing. (It probably happened more recently than I can recall, but that's the point - I don't recall.)

The rest of the weekends of this month are already swallowed up with social and work engagements / commitments, including a run for charity, catching up with a batty friend, a baby shower and a much-looked-forward-to family lunch, so Sunday is mine. Except for cooking a roast for the not-so-ex who will be working, and I plan on making it awesome!!!
